Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. In the early church, Lent was a time to prepare new converts for baptism. Today, during the Lenten season, Christians focus on their relationship with God, often choosing to give up something or to volunteer and give of themselves for others.
The 6 week, 40 day season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which falls on February 14 this year. An evening worship service including the imposition of ashes will be held on Ash Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Saint Mark’s 2018 Lenten devotional written by members of the congregation and staff will also be available on Ash Wednesday.
During the season of Lent, we invite you to join us for weekly worship services led by Rev. Steve Fazenbaker, offered every Wednesday from February 14 through March 28 at noon in the chapel.
