Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. In the early church, Lent was a time to prepare new converts for baptism. Today, during the Lenten season, Christians focus on their relationship with God, often choosing to give up something or to volunteer and give of themselves for others.
The 6 week, 40 day season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 1. A worship service at noon and an evening service, both including the imposition of ashes, will be held on Ash Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Saint Mark’s Lenten devotional will also be available on March 1.
During the season of Lent, from March 1 through April 12, we invite you to join us for weekly worship services led by Rev. Steve Fazenbaker, offered every Wednesday at noon in the chapel.
