For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. – Matthew 25:35

Thirty years ago, Saint Mark joined together with four other local congregations to establish the Midtown Assistance Center, an interfaith nonprofit committed to helping Atlanta’s working poor. MAC assists clients with rent, utilities, food, transportation, and clothing during times of crisis. During the month of July, Saint Mark will be collecting food for MAC’s food pantry. When children are out of school for the summer, parents are left to provide meals for them that they would normally eat at school. As a result, MAC experiences a higher demand for food during the summer months.

Please help us support this wonderful service to the community. Bags (with lists of the most needed items attached) will be available in the narthex of the church from now through the end of the month.

The items needed most in the pantry include: canned chicken and salmon, beef stew, Vienna sausage, chili, baked beans/pork and beans, soup, canned fruits and vegetables, black-eyed peas, Hamburger/Tuna Helper, instant or regular grits, cereal, cooking oil, pancake mix and syrup.

Please pick up a paper bag, fill it with food and return it to the church by July 31. You can drop your donations off in the bins in the narthex on Sunday mornings or you can drop off your donations in the church office during the week.
