GEM: Hospitality & Evangelism
Serve on Hospitality and Evangelism Team
We help develop and promote a feeling of being loved and welcomed at Saint Mark. We seek to help folks feel at home by providing greeters for worship, leading the Discovery Class for Newcomers, providing New Member Packets, hosting the New Member Dinners, and providing hospitality elsewhere as needed.
Time Commitment: The Team meets as needed
Greeter - Parking Lot/Outside
We want all persons to feel like honored guests from the first minute they arrive on our property. Greeters warmly welcome members and guests as they arrive for worship, answering questions and giving directions as needed.
Time Commitment: Rotating schedule. Arrive 30 minutes prior to service, stay in the parking lot until 10 minutes after start of service.
Greeter - Red Doors/Front Entrance
We want all persons to feel like honored guests from the first minute they arrive at our red doors. Greeters warmly welcome members and guests as they arrive for worship, answering questions and giving directions as needed. When folks join during the service, greeters also welcome them into the church family and provide them with a New Member Packet.
Time Commitment: Rotating schedule. Arrive 30 minutes prior to service, stay at the door until 10 minutes after start of service and in a seat until the end of the service.
Write/Call Visitors and New Members
We want to let our visitors and new members know how glad we are that they gather and worship as part of the Saint Mark family. Over their first several visits and upon joining, folks receive various cards and calls from members and the ministerial staff, welcoming them and inviting them to come back and get involved. Members of the Correspondence Network receive 3-10 names each week with addresses or phone numbers. They are given sample scripts for writing or telephone conversations.Saint Mark provides stationary and/or cards or postcards and you can arrange for envelopes to be stamped at the church office unless you would like to use your own.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours every Monday or Tuesday
New Member Dinner
New members are invited to a luncheon or dinner to break bread and share fellowship. At the dinner, new members get to know each other, meet the staff and other members, and learn more about the different Ministry that are offered at Saint Mark. We need folks to help set-up, serve, and facilitate the New Member Dinner.
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours, once a quarter.
Neighborhood Visitation
We would like to find ways to make non-invasive, friendly contacts with persons in our neighborhood to tell them about Saint Mark and invite them to join us.
Time Commitment: Ongoing - once per month.
