Rev. Joshua M. Noblitt
Minister of Social Justice
Rev. Josh Noblitt is Saint Mark's Minister of Social Justice. As an Ordained United Methodist Deacon, his twofold ministry is to Word and Service. For Deacons, that involves leading worship, officiating at weddings and funerals, assisting the Elders in administering the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, teaching, organizing community outreach ministries, and serving in a specialized ministry of some kind. Rev. Noblitt’s specialized ministry involves leading program and volunteer opportunities related to all social justice issues as well as offering counseling and conflict resolution services as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, mediator and mitigation specialist.
Rev. Noblitt completed his Master of Divinity at Candler School of Theology at Emory in 2004 and was ordained as a Deacon in Full Connection at the Western North Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church held at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina, on Saturday, June 13, 2009. With this ordination, Josh has completed all requirements making him a full clergy member of the Western North Carolina Conference. Josh’s gifts to Saint Mark are his leadership abilities and strong commitment to justice.
Josh has also participated with the Saint Mark Drama Ministry - as Fyedka in Fiddler on the Roof, as the Steward in Anything Goes, and as Judge Wilson in 1776. He has performed in several productions at the Huggins Center for Performing Arts at Greensboro College, the Blue Ridge Community Theatre and the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.
Josh’s ministry is an exciting addition to the overall ministries at Saint Mark and we are delighted that he is serving with us in this official capacity.
