Welcoming Statement
On March 13, 2011, a Saint Mark Church Conference voted overwhelmingly to affiliate with Reconciling Ministries Network.
As a United Methodist Church we are proud to be a congregation with open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We strive to be a congregation that embodies God’s absolute love and hospitality, proclaiming Jesus as our savior and as our model of the ultimate embodiment of God’s love. We believe that all persons are of sacred worth and dignity as part of God’s good creation. Saint Mark United Methodist Church welcomes all persons into the full life and ministry of our congregation, regardless of race, culture, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or socioeconomic status, physical or mental ability, or faith history.
The Most Important Things in Life
To begin the New Year 2012, the ministers of Saint Mark will present a series of sermons on “The most important things in life.” Each pastor will pick that thing to speak about that means the most to them to invite us all to live during 2012 focused on the things that are really important. Come and join us!

- January 8, Rev. Phillip Thomason, "Family"
- January 15, Rev. Josh Noblitt preaching: “Justice”
- January 22, Rev. Dr. Beth LaRocca-Pitts preaching: “Compassion”

Prayer Shawl Ministry
This year Saint Mark is starting a prayer shawl ministry. We will meet the second Monday of every month, 7-9 pm, at the home of Mandy Flemming. If you knit, crochet, or are involved in some other craft that could be used to support those who are ill or shut in, please join us! All are welcome. For more information, contact Mandy Flemming or Christi Elliott-Earby.
Best in Show - Saint Mark
For the second year in a row, Saint Mark has been selected as the Georgia Voice’s Best House of Worship! Many thanks to everyone who took the time to vote!
Saint Mark United Methodist Church was one of the first mainstream Atlanta congregations to welcome LGBT people, and it is our readers’ favorite for Best House of Worship for the second consecutive year. New Covenant Church of Atlanta, led by Apostle Randy Layton-Morgan and Senior Pastor Johnny Layton-Morgan, placed second and Congregation Bet Haverim, the LGBT-founded Reconstructionist synagogue, placed third. |
Fenuxe loves to celebrate the gay community here in Atlanta and highlight the positive side to how we live, work and play. So, this year we wanted to pay tribute to the gay-owned and gay-friendly businesses that are the bedrock of our community.
Best House of Worship/ Spiritual Center Saint Mark UMC There are a lot of people out there who think that gays and God don’t get along. Luckily for the Atlanta gays who like to take in a service there are plenty of places to worship that welcome members of the LGBT community with open arms. While all our nominees were worthy of a win the Fenuxe readers have anointed Saint Mark UMC as the best place to worship in the Big A. |
