Photo Montage for Pride
We want to collect pictures for a photo montage we are making for Pride worship.
We want two types of pictures:
1. Historic pictures of folks from the last 20 years, especially if anyone has pictures of the first Pride parade where we welcomed the marchers. We want pictures of those who have died, pictures of folks who have been here and have moved. Anything meaningful to folks from the last 20 years. The theme of Phillip’s sermon is “Be Yourself, everyone else is taken” so we’re going for an individuality theme in some ways.
2. Family pictures. We want pictures of our families, however they are configured, partners, parents, pets, whatever. Groups of friends are also acceptable. Single folk can send in their pictures of themselves, whatever, but we want pictures of our members and their families. Especially I would love wedding pictures as well.
The award, first presented in 1998, honors an individual or organization who has made an extraordinarily courageous effort valuing justice and supporting diversity beyond that which is normally encountered and can include efforts that
Have focused attention on helping others learn about the diversity of the the community in regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, physical capability, socio-economic status, and/or religious affiliation.
Have encouraged the acceptance, respect, and appreciation of diversity.
Have encouraged others to discuss the barriers that exist in celebrating diversity and developing strategies to eliminate those barriers within the community.
Have involved participation in or promotion of multicultural acceptance.
May have been singular in nature, but are nonetheless inspirational, powerful, and indicative of the God-like nature of the individuals or organization regarding their acceptance of diversity.
To nominate an individual or organization for the 2011 Acceptance of Diversity Award, send a concise statement of no more than 250 words explaining why this individual or organization should receive the Award by email to stmarkpride@gmail.com.
