Celebrate Earth Day by Going Green
The Remarks, April 15, 2009

This Earth Day, April 22, consider joining the Green Generation. There are simple everyday things that you can do to 'go green' like curbing your use of plastic, switching light bulbs, or just recycling those newspapers! If you are a teacher, check out the many environmentally-friendly lesson plans for your classroom and ways to create a healthy school environment. There are many actions that you can take and many products available that can make a difference. This Earth Day, go green!

Cartoonists Got It Together for Earth Day
The Remarks, May 6, 2008

In honor of Earth Day, cartoonists syndicated by King Features Syndicate got together to come up with eco-awareness installments of their daily strips. Participants included familiar strips like “Beetle Bailey,” “Blondie,” “Dennis the Menace,” and “Zits,” as well as newer ones like “Arctic Circle,” “Retail” and “The Pajama Diaries.” And naturally, Patrick and MUTTS participated with a full week of cartoons honoring the Earth. The New York Times highlighted the creative efforts of MUTTS in their celebration of Earth Day. Not to be out-done, USA Today also covered the story, featured Earl & Mooch on the cover of the paper, and created a gallery of all the Earth Day strips.

An Earth Day Resolution
The Remarks, April 22, 2008

In the United States, Earth Day has been observed on April 22 since 1970. A great way to make the celebration your own is to volunteer with one of the many organizations working to safeguard the environment. Or you might decide to set yourself a goal, such as refraining from driving on Sundays or “greening” a particular habit.

Do your part: www.volunteermatch.org can help you find green work in your area. Many city governments are also beginning to implement volunteer placement branches.
