Celebrate Earth Day by Going Green
The Remarks, April 15, 2009

This Earth Day, April 22, consider joining the Green Generation. There are simple everyday things that you can do to 'go green' like curbing your use of plastic, switching light bulbs, or just recycling those newspapers! If you are a teacher, check out the many environmentally-friendly lesson plans for your classroom and ways to create a healthy school environment. There are many actions that you can take and many products available that can make a difference. This Earth Day, go green!

Money for You AND Saint Mark and Cleaner Air for Georgia!

Saint Mark is participating in a special program for faith communities designed by Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL) and Georgia Power. For every member that signs up for Georgia Power’s Power Credit Program through Saint Mark, our congregation will receive $20. That’s on top of the $25 you’ll earn for yourself.

Georgia Power’s Power Credit Program is designed to control peak demand for electricity by installing a switch on participating customers’ air conditioner units. When the demand for electricity peaks, Georgia Power will reduce the length of an occasional running cycle of your air conditioner. Most customers report that they have not noticed a change in the comfort level of their homes, even on the warmest days. The reasons Saint Mark and GIPL are supporting this effort are many, not the least of which is that Power Credit represents a very logical way to limit the demand for new coal fired or nuclear power plants in Georgia.

Come by the Green Team table after either worship service on November 9 to find out more about the program and to sign up. Be sure to bring your Georgia Power customer number. You can also fill out this form ahead of time and bring it with you on November 9.
